Himesh Patel proved it was business as usual on Tuesday as he filmed scenes for the upcoming HBO Max series, Station Eleven, while in a wheelchair.

The EastEnders and Yesterday actor, 30, appeared worse for wear as he sported a special FX injury on his arm from the snowy set in Toronto, Canada. 

He was seen wearing a waterproof jacket with high-visibility stripes and casual bottoms in-between takes.

Giving a possible clue to his character’s storyline, Himesh had a cannula inserted into his hand and rested a blanket over his lap. 

His unruly locks flickered in the wind as he rocked a bushy beard for filming. 

The new ten-part drama series is based on the Emily St. John novel of the same name, and follows the aftermath of a global flu pandemic which has wiped out most of the world’s population.

Himesh and Halt And Catch Fire’s Mackenzie Davis feature as leads in the post-apocalyptic saga which weaves multiples storylines as the survivors hold on to what little they have left and try to navigate the new world.

The formers EastEnders star will play Jeevan, an unemployed man who steps up to the plate to become a leader after the Georgia Flu strikes.    

When asked what it was like filming a show about the pandemic, during a pandemic, Himesh told Collider: ‘There are elements of the story that have become far closer to reality, but no one has changed anything, in order for it to feel more relevant. 

‘We’re telling the story that we were always setting out to tell, and it’s still unfolding. I’m really, really excited to be part of it.

‘People who read the book will know that it’s a story about how we hold onto the best things while we have to rebuild. I’m hoping that’s something that people will take away from it.’

Mackenzie will portray Kirsten, a survivor of the deadly infection, who also performs in a Shakespeare troupe as she tries to salvage a feeling of normality amidst the chaos. 

They HBO production has creator Patrick Somerville and director Hiro Murai at the helm, who both serve as executive producers. Filming began in Chicago in 2020.
